Foresight Clothing is a clothing brand from Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand.
The New Zealand Aotearoa start up clothing line is the brainchild of artist Miriama Grace-Smith.
Miriama has a B.A. in Fine Arts, Certificates in Business Management and Business Development. Miriama has been developing Foresight Clothing over the last five years. She started selling online, using facebook to build a community of interest and the website for online sales before opening a shop in her hometown of Paekākāriki, and then opening a second shop on Wellington's Cuba Street.
After completing art school Miriama began painting commissioned canvasses and customising vintage clothing, streetwear and skateboards to order.
Encouraged by the popularity of her customised gear Miriama, who had always wanted to develop her own streetwear brand, started designing clothes inspired by the natural world around her. The result is Foresight’s startlingly original range of off the peg garments. Her bucket hats, t-shirts, sweatshirts and bomber jackets use blown up images of native manu, hand drawn and hand painted contemporary māori designs and street art with further designs in the pipeline.
After three years running a shop and supporting local talent by selling their work in store, Miriama decided to close up shop to focus on developing Foresight Clothing as a label.
“Foresight is envisioning the future, where you want to be, what you want to become and believing that you can bring that vision to life, we need foresight to believe that all our hard work will eventually pay off, just like everyone, that’s why I reckon Foresight is a brand for everyone.” Miriama Grace-Smith
